NORTHERN MOZAMBIQUE CHANNEL : NMC PROJECT
NMC PROJECT: INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF THE MARINE AND COASTAL RESOURCES OF THE NORTHERN MOZAMBIQUE CHANNEL
Context : Members from WIO-C together with the Nairobi Convention Secretariat joined to propose to the French GEF (FFEM - Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial) a project on the sustainable management of the marine and coastal resources of the Northern Mozambique Channel, that has been approved by the national focal points to the Nairobi Convention and by the conference of Parties. The project proposal has been accepted to be funded both by FFEM and SIDA.
At that stage, Mr. Olivier LE BRUN and Mr. Rémi GARNIER international experts of the CREOCEAN and CREOCEAN INDIAN OCEAN Environmental consulting firm associated with the consultant Mrs. Catherine GABRIE have been commissioned by the FFEM belonging to the Agence Française de Développement (AFD is France's inclusive public development bank) to conduct the feasibility study and the project's appraisal.
Between November 2017 and March 2018, the project team will meet/work with final beneficiaries and the different potential stakeholders of the project, in the NCM region: Comoros, Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Seychelles and France.
