Seabed Characterization - Implemented Resources

A diagnosis can only be run from reliable data. To do this, our teams are equipped with reliable resources, regularly updated depending on technological developments and covering a wide research spectrum.

At-sea data acquisition campaigns:

Depending on the mapping targets, our teams might implement slight or severe means. So our jobs can be divided into modules and adapted to the exploration sites: coastal strip, shallow sea-beds, great depths. Under-water mapping research relies essentially on the following techniques:

  • GPS positioning to the nearest centimetre
  • mono-beam and multi-beam bathymetry sounding
  • mapping underwater features adapted to inshore and offshore zones using side-scan sonar
  • sediment and geological prospecting with implementation of sediment sounders and seismic reflection equipment

Processing information:

Experience acquired over many years on a wide variety of sites, plus the capacity to simulate using field models, helps to establish reliable, accurate mapping. These are the result of:

  • Digitalized data processing giving readings in real time and in post-processing
  • Resources for making calculations and running reliable mathematical modelling in UNIX and Windows environments
